The first humans to make clothes for themselves were Adam and Eve. Genesis 3:7 records that, “At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.” The leaves of the fig tree were used as the material for their clothing. After this, God Himself made garment from animal skins for them “And the lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife.” (Gen. 3:21) well, we don’t know if thread and needle was involved, but that is inmaterial, our focus here is on what they wore. Since then animal skin has dominated as the major source of material for clothing for pre-historic men.
Outside of the Bible, history records that, the Neanderthals were the first to introduce clothing. According to archeologist, the earliest clothes consisted of leather, leaves, furs and grass which were either wrapped, draped or tied. Bone and Ivory were the main source of needle types which were used then.
Clothing has evolved over a thousand years to what we know it to be today. Like everything else about our world, it all started from the garden of eden. When Adam and Eve first made fig clothing for themselves.
